Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor in the Center for Bioethics and Social Justice at Michigan State University.
Currently, much of my research centers on topics in Neuroethics. Some recent topics include promoting post-trial care for patient-participants in experimental brain implants studies and decision-making in the context of pediatric deep brain stimulation where the caregiver consents on behalf of the child. I also research ways to promote engagement with patient-participants who contribute to neuroscience and neurotechnology research, and have raised the concern that patient-participants in these brain implant studies may be exploited.
Prior to my current position, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow on NIH-funded projects in the Center for Bioethics at Harvard Medical School (2021-2022) and in the Department of Neurosurgery and David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (2020-2021)
From 2017-2020, I worked as Managing Editor for the Philosophy of Science journal, with Andrea Woody as Editor-in-Chief.
I also previously worked as a Neuroethics fellow (PIs: Sara Goering and Eran Klain) at the Center for Neurotechnology at the University of Washington.
Finally, I had the opportunity to participate as a graduate assistant for the Philosophy in an Inclusive Key Summer Institute (PIKSI) at the Rock Ethics Institute at Penn State. The theme was "Philosophy and Social Justice."
